Awareness program conducted at Jammu under J&K Bank CSR Project “NAJATH”

Jammu, Jan 18, 2024: Continuing its fight against the menace of Tobacco and Drug addiction, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, an awareness program was organized under Project NAJAATH- at Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil Boys Hostel (Channi Rama) Jammu. Under the comprehensive program, emphasis is laid on both prevention and treatment to address the multifaceted challenges associated with substance abuse.

The program saw active participation from around 200 students, besides officers from Health Department, J&K Bank and the Hostel administration. The event aimed to raise awareness about the challenges posed by addiction and the importance of adopting preventive measures.

Dr. Shahnaz medical office Drug De-addiction center police lines Jammu led a comprehensive discussion on addiction prevention strategies. She talked about substance and behavioural addiction and prevention strategies. Dr. Shahnaz emphasized the need for a holistic approach to tackle substance and behavioural addiction. She discussed the detrimental effects of addiction on individuals and society as a whole. She highlighted various preventive strategies such as engagement in protective pursuits, involvement in sports, and regular exercises and activities in diverting individuals from addictive behaviours.

Dr. Mirdula, the Nodal Officer for Tobacco Control Program (TCP) in Jammu, provided insights into Do’s and Don’t related to tobacco addiction. She also discussed various acts and legislations in place to curb tobacco and drug use.

Mr. Suresh Chowdhary, Cluster Head from J&K Bank participated in the event. He shed light on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives undertaken by the Bank. He emphasized the Bank’s commitment to supporting community welfare programs and initiatives aimed at preventing addiction. He emphasised the importance of addressing the critical social issues by the corporate citizens such as J&K Bank. He expressed gratitude towards the host institution for facilitating the organization of the event and congratulated the SPVLG Team for conducting the program successfully.

Mr Chowdhary reiterated the commitment of the Bank towards fulfilling its social responsibilities in collaboration with well-meaning social organizations and govt. departments.

Earlier while welcoming the participants and guests, Ashraf Wani from SPVLG Foundation gave a detailed overview of Project NAJAATH. He deliberated on the vital elements of the program in terms of prevention strategies and treatment options available for addressing the addiction amoung the youth.

Dr. Gul Naz facilitated an interactive question-and-answer session, encouraging participants to seek clarification on addiction-related issues. This session provided valuable insights and information to the attendees.

Mr. Rockey, the President of Kargil Boys Hostel Association, emphasized the importance of community involvement in addiction prevention. He expressed support for collaborative efforts to create a drug-free and healthy environment.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work together in the fight against addiction. The Medical Office Drug De-addiction Center at Police Lines remains dedicated to creating awareness, providing support, and fostering a community that prioritizes health and well-being.
